MANX GRAND PRIX TO BE FILMED BY GREENLIGHT TV
(8th May)
The Manx Motorcycle Club is pleased to announce that the 2012 Manx Grand Prix Races will be filmed by Greenlight TV.   Greenlight will be filming throughout the year, following and interviewing current road racing stars, many of whom started their Mountain Course racing in the Manx Grand Prix Newcomers Races. In addition they will be following the fortunes of the many new riders who are competing on the famous TT course for the first time.   The Club’s Chairman, Harvey Garton, said, “This is a very exciting project in which we aim to record and describe the event from a rider’s viewpoint. In partnership with Greenlight TV, we hope to bring a fresh perspective and insight into the nature and history of this unique road racing event”.

MANX MOTOR CYCLE CLUB EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER INNACCURATE STATEMENTS
(4th May)

The Manx Motor Cycle Club is very concerned at inaccurate statements made on Manx Radio by a representative of KPMG (Government Accountants) on Wednesday 2 May 2012.
In particular visitors over the Manx Grand Prix Festival period have INCREASED, as recognised by the IOM Government, since Government started to promote the Festival. Furthermore, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s arrival figures for 2011 show that over the MGP Festival period 27,128 people were carried. The arrival figures over the equivalent TT period were 33,712.
In addition public statements have been made by various people, implying that the proposed Classic Races for 2013 are an innovation – we would point out that the Manx Motor Cycle Club has been running Classic Races since 1983, although since 2005 Classic entries have reduced by 50%.

NEW PROPOSALS FOR MANX GRAND PRIX FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MANX MOTOR CYCLE CLUB
(1st May)

The Manx Motor Cycle Club welcomes the commitment from the Department of Economic Development (DED) in assuring the future of the Manx Grand Prix Races from 2013 and beyond.
Building on the Manx Grand Prix 90 year heritage the proposals seek to reverse the recent decline in classic classes and indeed grow key elements of these iconic races for the benefit of our existing and potential competitors, fans and our army of volunteers.
Notably, the recent investment in marketing the Manx Grand Prix Festival has already paid dividends in both increased modern class entries and also visitor numbers as confirmed by the DED survey.

The Manx Motor Cycle Club hopes these proposals will produce further returns for the Government and private sector investors during these trying economic times. We will work closely with DED to ensure the survival of the Manx Grand Prix Races and welcome any suggestions and feedback concerning the proposals to mgp@manx.net.

Regulations: period of stability required (26th October)

Following on from a successful 2011 Manx Grand Prix, the Manx Motor Cycle Club would like to announce its intention to keep the regulations for the races substantially unchanged for the next three years, with a review following the 2014 event in time for 2015. It is hoped that this will give existing and potential new competitors the confidence to invest in machinery they know they will be able to use at the Grand Prix for the next three years at least.
