After the disappointment of the loss of the main part
of Monday evening's Practice Session, anticipation was high as competitors
clearing scrutineering and placed their machines in parc ferme, in preparation
for their first session of the 2008 Manx Grand Prix.
The Junior and Senior classes were first away at 6.30pm,
having been delayed slightly by a parked car in Ramsey and having cleared
the roads at Ballig after a vehicle had deposited animal feed on the
road!
James McCullagh (Junior 3) and Ryan McCay (Junior 6)
were first away, as Michael Weldon's Yamaha R6 went on fire in Pit Lane,
was extinguished and pushed away for further investigation.
After the Junior and Senior competitors had all completed
one lap, the Speed Controlled Newcomers were sent on their way for one
lap.
Then followed the Classics, Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight
riders.
First to complete a lap was Ryan McCay on his Junior Suzuki lapping at
110.373mph. The chequered flag was shown to all competitors at 8.10pm,
bringing the first full session to a close.

a speed of 114.014mph. Brian Mateer was quickest in the Lightweight on
