The Manx Motor Cycle Club, organisers of the IMGold Manx Grand Prix, have added their congratulations to Geoff Karran MBE after he was bestowed with the prestigious Tynwald Honour .
The Tynwald Honour is the greatest honour the Isle of Man can award, and comes in recognition of Mr Karran’s outstanding contribution to Manx life in general, and his tireless work on behalf of all sport in the Island.
Commenting on this prestigious honour, the Chairman of the Manx Motor Cycle Club, Harvey Garton, said: “The Committee, members and officials of the MMCC and all of those associated with the IMGold Manx Grand Prix are absolutely delighted that Geoff, a former President of the club, has been recognised with this well-deserved award.”
Geoff Karran held a number of important posts in his long service with the Manx Motor Cycle Club. It started back in 1969 when he was the Assistant Press Officer, and saw him moving to join the committee in 1973. Many motor racing fans will remember him as the Press Officer for the MMCC, a role he held for 11 years from 1974.
Geoff became Vice-Chairman in 1986, becoming Chairman three years later. 1995 saw him take on the role of Honorary Vice-President, and from 2001-2004 he was President of the MMCC.
An impressive track record.
